Over the past few years, con­ver­sa­tions about brain health have expand­ed well beyond the lab­o­ra­to­ry and the clin­ic. What can the arts con­tribute to our under­stand­ing of mem­o­ry, neu­rode­gen­er­a­tive dis­eases, brain injury, and oth­er forms of neu­ro­log­i­cal dif­fer­ence? And what can artists, sci­en­tists, clin­i­cians, and researchers in the social sci­ences and human­i­ties learn from one another?

We are delight­ed to invite you to the Inter­dis­ci­pli­nary Work­shop: Art and Brain Health, which will take place on August 12–13, 2026, at the Medel­lín Botan­i­cal Gar­den in Colom­bia. Fund­ed by Con­nect­ed Minds at York Uni­ver­si­ty (Cana­da), the work­shop will bring togeth­er artists, film­mak­ers, clin­i­cians, neu­ro­sci­en­tists, anthro­pol­o­gists, STS schol­ars, and human­i­ties researchers to explore—through keynote lec­tures, con­ver­sa­tions, work­shops, pre­sen­ta­tions, and roundtables—how artis­tic prac­tices can trans­form the ways we under­stand, inves­ti­gate, and care for brain health.

We are hon­oured to wel­come renowned Colom­bian play­wright Fabio Rubiano and Han­nah Star Rogers, a lead­ing schol­ar of art–science col­lab­o­ra­tion, as our keynote speakers.

The event is free of charge, bilin­gual (Spanish–English), and will fea­ture simul­ta­ne­ous inter­pre­ta­tion through­out the main sessions.
